BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The ULM women's basketball program ran into a hot WKU team on Saturday and fell 92-63 at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Sharnice Brooks led the way for ULM (9-17, 5-9 SBC) with 19 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Ashleigh Simmons recorded 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Elexar Tugler scored 11 and also grabbed five rebounds.
Jasmine Shaw pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Simmons needs just three points to reach the 1,000 plateau in her career.
The Warhawks scored 32 points in the paint and 31 points off the bench. They forced 12 WKU turnovers and tallied 14 offensive rebounds.
WKU (17-8, 9-5 SBC) was led by Chastity Gooch's 20 points. Bianca McGee scored 17, Micah Jones and Kendall Noble had 11 apiece and Bria Gaines put in 10 points. Chanell Lockhart had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with nine points.
Elexar Tugler scored the first five points of the game to put ULM up early, 5-0. The Warhawks led 9-5 when the Lady Toppers used a 12-0 run to go up 17-9 at the 13:14 mark. WKU extended its advantage to 38-17 with 7:16 remaining.
ULM trailed 45-21 when it used a 9-0 spurt to cut the deficit to 45-30, forcing WKU to call timeout with 1:52 to go. The Lady Toppers closed the half on an 8-2 run to lead 53-32 at the intermission.
WKU outscored ULM 39-31 in the second half.
The Warhawks will return home on Wednesday when they host South Alabama at 7:00 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
