Baseball Falls on the Road at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. -- The ULM baseball team concluded a two-game midweek home-and-home series with a 5-2 loss at Jackson State Wednesday night.

Jackson State (11-6) plated the game's first run with a RBI single to right center to take a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first inning.

ULM (7-11) evened the game at 1-1 when Josh Faciane scored on a passed ball in the top of the third.

The Tigers regained the lead as they answered the Warhawks run in the home half of the third.

ULM scored its final run of the night when Dalton Todd drove in Dalton Herrington with a RBI double down the left field line in the fourth. Herrington's run evened the game at 2-2.

Jackson State scored a single run in the fourth, seventh and eighth inning to claim the 5-2 win.

The loss was charged to Payton Coddou (0-1) as he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Jamal Wilson (1-0) earned the win in relief as he tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Warhawks will return home to open conference play this weekend against UL-Lafayette.
