MONROE, La. -- ULM tied a season-high with five errors and that aided the visiting Ragin' Cajuns as No. 6 UL-Lafayette claimed a 14-1 win Saturday afternoon at Warhawk Field.
UL-L (16-2, 2-0) plated the first run of the game in the top of the first inning as Blake Trahan scored on a RBI groundout by Tyler Girouard to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 1-0 lead.
An inning later, the visitors plated a trio of runs as three different batters recorded a RBI as UL-L pushed its lead to 4-0.
UL-L scored atleast one run in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to increase the lead to 13-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, pinch hitter Tanner Hebert ended Carson Baranik's bid for a perfect game as he drew a walk with two outs in the frame.
An inning later, the Warhawks (7-12, 0-2) ended the no-hit and shutout bids as ULM tallied three hits and one run. In the bottom of the sixth, Ross Moore recorded the first hit of the game with a one-out single to center. Vincent Dellocono followed with a single to left center, but he was tagged out at second as Moore moved to third. Anthony Herrera drove in Moore with a RBI single up the middle.
UL-L added a single run in the seventh on a Jace Conrad RBI single to center field to conclude scoring in Saturday's game.
ULM starter Alex Hermeling (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Baranik (4-0) earned the win for UL-L as he allowed one run on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.
ULM and UL-L will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon and the start time has been pushed back one hour and will now start at 2 p.m.
