R.J. McCray and
Amos Olatayo were honored before their final home game on
Saturday as the ULM men's basketball program dropped a 61-46 outcome to Troy at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Freshman
Nick Coppola led ULM (9-15, 6-10 SBC) offensively with 10 points. James grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Junior
Marvin Williams totaled nine points and seven rebounds.
Troy (10-19, 4-11 SBC) used a 24-point performance from Hunter Williams who went 6-for-10 from three-point range. Tevin Calhoun also aided the attack with 15 points.
The Trojans hit a pair of three-pointers to take an early 6-0 lead. A long-range shot by Coppola cut the deficit to 14-13 with 9:50 remaining. ULM was down just 17-15 when Troy used a 12-0 spurt to grab a 29-15 advantage with 3:34 to go. The Trojans took a 38-18 lead into the half.
ULM began the second half on a 6-0 run after a three-pointer by junior
Tylor Ongwae and an old-fashion three-point play by Williams to make it a 38-24 game. Coppola nailed a shot from beyond-the-arc to trim the deficit to 43-30 with 12:36 left.
The Warhawks trailed 49-30 when McCray capitalized on back-to-back field goals to force a Troy timeout with 8:28 remaining with the score 49-34. A basket by sophomore
DeMondre Harvey made it a 56-43 game with 2:26 left.
ULM will be back in action when it takes on Arkansas State at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday on the road. The Warhawks will close out the regular season at UALR at 7:00 p.m. next Saturday.

DeMondre Harvey recorded a career-high three steals to go along with his five points and six rebounds
- The Warhawks outscored the Trojans 24-20 in the paint and 17-9 off the bench. ULM also won the rebounding battle 38-36
- With two regular season games still remaining, ULM has doubled both its overall and conference win totals from last season. The Warhawks have three more conference wins despite playing an 18-game schedule, compared to a 20-game slate last season. ULM was 4-23 overall and 3-17 in SBC play last year
