MONROE, La. -- The ULM softball program earned a 1-0 extra-inning victory over Georgia State in walk-off fashion Sunday afternoon at the ULM Softball Complex.

Alexis Cacioppo delivered an RBI single with two out in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Warhawks (22-22. 6-11 Sun Belt) to their first-ever win over the Panthers (28-24, 10-8 Sun Belt).

Courtney Dutreix, who was 2-for-3 on the day, reached on a single and advanced to second on a throwing error to start the eighth inning. Miyuki Navarrete then reached on a bunt single to put runners at the corners. The Panthers were able to turn a double play, keeping Dutreix at third, setting the stage for Cacioppo's single.

Both teams had spectacular defensive plays to keep the game scoreless through seven innings. Each team cut down a runner trying to score in regulation.

Rochelle Roberts made a great toss to Robbie Dailey covering home in the top of the first. It helped the Warhawks escape a bases loaded jam with no outs.

Georgia State then cut down Dutreix trying to score in the bottom of the third.

Samantha Hamby went all eight innings and earned the win on senior day, improving to 14-13 on the season in her final home appearance.

ULM returns to action Saturday, May 3 for a doubleheader at UL-Lafayette. First pitch is at 2 p.m. with game two to follow.
