ARLINGTON, Texas -- ULM dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader to UT Arlington, 6-1, at Clay Gould Field.
UTA (14-17, 6-5) plated the only runs it needed in the home half of the first inning as the Mavericks scored two unearned runs to take an early 2-0 lead.
ULM (12-20, 4-7) closed the gap to one run with a single run in the top of the second inning. The Warhawks were unable to break through with any more runs as they stranded six base runners in the first two innings.
UTA scored a single run in the second and sixth innings (both unearned) before added a pair in the bottom of the eighth.
Keelin Rasch led the Warhawks with a 2-for-3 effort at the dish. Chad Miller was tagged with the hard luck loss as he surrendered four unearned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
Eric Tate tallied three hits and one run for UTA, while Derek Miller drove in two.

· Dalton Herrington's five-game hit streak and 11-game reached base streak ended with an 0-for-4 day at the plate.
· Chad Miller logged 5.2 innings of work, the second-highest mark of his Warhawk career… He also allowed zero walks and it marked the first time in his career he started a game and didn't walk a batter.
· Ross Moore scored his fifth run of the season in the second inning.
· Keelin Rasch tallied two hits in the contest and he now leads the team with 11 multiple hit games in 2014.
· Justin Stawychny pushed his recent hit streak to five straight games and his reached base streak now sits at seven consecutive games.
