Warhawks to Close Out 2014 Home Slate this Weekend

MONROE, La. -- The ULM baseball team looks to end the 2014 home season on a high-note as it welcomes Georgia State to Warhawk Field for a crucial three-game Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.

Both ULM and Georgia State enter the weekend at 9-15 in league play and the two teams are in a tie for seventh place in the league standings. All three games of the weekend series will air on KMLB 540 AM with Bruce Hanks on the call.

First Pitch
• Friday's series opener is slated to begin at 6 p.m. and it will mark the first time that ULM and Georgia State have met on the baseball diamond.
• Prior to Sunday's finale, the ULM baseball program will honor its group of 10 departing seniors.
• ULM enters the weekend on a two-game winning streaks... Both wins have been come-from-behind wins and the Warhawks won each game with walk-offs in the bottom of the ninth.
• The Warhawks rallied to defeat Grambling State, 6-5, Tuesday night buy scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth... Kodie Tidwell tied the game at 5-5 with a single through the right side and later in the frame, Keelin Rasch drew a bases loaded walk and Vincent Dellocono walked home for the walk-off win.
• In the win over the Tigers, Tanner Hebert recorded his first career hit and first career RBI... The redshirt-freshman finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI.
• In the series finale against WKU, the Warhawks trailed 4-0 after 5 1/2 innings of play, but a four-run sixth and a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth gave the Warhawks the 5-4 win.
Dalton Herrington got ULM on the board with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth and after Keelin Rasch singled and Kodie Tidwell reached on a fielding error, Justin Stawychny tied the game with a three-run homer over the wall in left center.
Chet Simoneaux ended the game with a solo shot down the left field line with one out in the home half of the ninth.
• Relievers Alex Dumaine and Tyler Bray combined to toss three shutout frames in the finale, allowing one hit, one walk with three strikeouts as the duo tossed just 34 combined pitches in the final three frames.
• The Warhawks received a solid outing from starter Alex Hermeling as the right-hander allowed just one run on three hits while striking out four in five innings of work.
• In game two of the weekend series against the Hilltoppers, the Warhawks took a 2-0 lead on a two-RBI single by Jeff Fuller... WKU quickly responded with a five-run third and ULM was unable to respond as the Warhawks fell 11-2.
