NABC Names Olatayo, Ongwae to 2013-14 Honors Court

Men's Basketball

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Amos Olatayo and Tylor Ongwae represented the ULM men's basketball program on the 2013-14 Honors Court, released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Monday.

The NABC recognized men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court recognized the talents and gifts that the men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

Olatayo was one of five ULM men's basketball student-athletes to graduate in May, 2014. He completed his degree in psychology and was the second-leading scorer on the team with 13.2 points per game.

Ongwae enters his senior season and is pursuing a degree in business management. He returns as ULM's leading scorer and ranked fourth in the league with 17.5 points per game. Additionally, Ongwae was named to the All-Conference Third-Team, NABC All-District Second-Team, All-Louisiana Third-Team and College Sports Madness All-SBC Fourth-Team.

In order to qualify for Honors Court, a student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior and a varsity player. He must also carry a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year with at least one year matriculated at the current institution.

The honors for ULM come after it won the Sun Belt Conference academic award for the second consecutive year in 2013-14. The Warhawks once again posted the conference's best cumulative grade point average to earn the award.

ULM enters the 2014-15 campaign without any NCAA sanctions against the program for the first time after head coach Keith Richard inherited APR penalties in 2010-11.
