Post-Game Notes vs. Troy, Sept. 27, 2014
Team Notes
· ULM Captains: OL Joseph Treadwell (Offense), CB Trey Caldwell (Co-Defense), S Mitch Lane (Co-Defense) and LB Ray Stovall (Special Teams).
· Troy Captains: OL Dalton Bennett, WR B.J. Chitty, DE Brandon Timmons and LB Mark Wilson.
· ULM won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half.
· ULM scored on its opening possession, a 37-yard field goal by Justin Manton… It was the first time the Warhawks scored on it is first drive of a game this season.
· ULM's win over Troy was the fourth straight win for the Warhawks… ULM has also won five of the last six meetings against the Trojans.
· Attendance: 18,544… Fifth largest crowd to visit JPS Field at Malone Stadium for a Sun Belt Conference game.
Offense Notes
· Pete Thomas found Ajalen Holley for a 64-yard touchdown with 5:54 to play in the first quarter… It was the longest scoring play for the Warhawks this season and it was a career-long reception for Holley.
· Pete Thomas finished the contest 28-of-43 for 328 yards and two touchdown passes.
· Rashon Ceaser set a new career-high with 12 receptions (previous high: 10, at Wake Forest, Sept. 14, 2013)… Ceaser also netted 121 receiving yards and a long of 29.
· Ajalen Holley finished the contest with five receptions for 109 yards and two scores… In two career games against Troy, Holley has 183 yards on nine receptions and four touchdown grabs.
Defense Notes
· Joey Gautney forced his third career fumble and it was recovered by Lorenzo Jackson (first career recovery) in the fourth quarter… The forced turnover extended ULM's forced turnover streak to 30 consecutive games (longest active streak in FBS).
· The Warhawk defense tallied five sacks on the night and ULM now has 17 sacks on the season (through four games)… In 2013, the Warhawks registered 16 sacks.
· Michael Johnson was one of four Warhawks to tally seven tackles in the game and the junior finished with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Special Teams Notes
· Justin Manton connected on a 37-yard field goal with 8:19 to play in the first quarter to put ULM ahead 3-0… The 37-yard FG was a season long for Manton.
· Justin Manton hit his second field goal of the game (34 yards) with 13:39 to play in the second quarter… It is the first time since Sept. 7, 2013 (vs. Grambling State) that Manton connected on two or more field goals in one game.
· Justin Manton made it 3-for-3 on the night as he nailed a 29-yard field goal with 2:08 to play in the game to lift ULM to a 22-20 win.
· Justin Manton finished the game with six punts (48.3 avg) and a long of 56… He also had three punts inside the 20... He kicked off six times as well (64.0 avg) and three touchbacks.
· Tyler Cain returned three kickoffs for 80 yards and tied a career-long with a 34-yard return.
