TROY, Ala. – Despite outrebounding the Trojans, the ULM women's basketball team fell 90-51 to Troy on Thursday night in Trojan Arena.
The Warhawks (8-11, 4-6 SBC) had 48 rebounds compared to Troy's (12-7, 7-3 SBC) 45, but it was not enough to lift the visitors over the Trojans.
Tyler Holley led ULM with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Daja Chase chipped in ten rebounds, four points and two assists. Christina Gray grabbed seven rebounds as well.
Ashley Beverly-Kelley had a game-high 23 points to lead Troy.
Troy started the game on a 6-0 run before Sharnice Brooks opened the scoring for the Warhawks to leave Troy with a 6-2 lead with 16:38 left in the half.
The Trojans stretched the lead back to six with a layup, but Chase matched the bucket to cut the lead back to four, 8-4, with 14:01 remaining before the break.
The home team extended their advantage with another run to head into the locker room leading 47-14.
The Warhawks opened the second half with a 6-0 run as Jade Wharton nailed a jumper, followed by two free throws from Aundrea Davis and a layup by Gray.
ULM used a 13-3 run, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Olivia Countiss, to cut the lead in the second half but the Trojans came away with a victory.
The Warhawks return home on Saturday to host South Alabama at 2:00 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
