MONROE, La. – Big defensive plays earned Ben Banogu from ULM football and Brooke-Lynn Scroggins from the soccer program Warhawk Male and Female of the Week honors, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Banogu heard his named called multiple times in Saturday's contest at Tulsa as he set a trio of career-highs. The redshirt-freshman finished the game with career bests in tackles (nine), tackles for loss (four) and sacks (two).
His four tackles for loss netted 18 yards while his two sacks were for 15 yards. Banogu was part of the Warhawk defensive front that forced the Golden Hurricane to punt four times, turn the ball over on downs twice and miss a total of three field goals (one blocked).
Over the last two contests, Banogu has registered 16 total tackles, including seven tackles for loss (27 yards) and two sacks (15 yards). On the season, Banogu is the team leader in tackles for loss (eight) and sacks (three).
In conference games, Scroggins leads the league with 46 saves made. Her 7.67 saves per game average is also No. 1 in the SBC. She's had at least 10 saves in three different conference games this season.
The freshman goalkeeper added on to her stats this weekend with 10 more saves against Little Rock including a handful of diving stops that kept the Warhawks within reach. The Wylie, Texas native followed it up with three more saves against Arkansas State on Sunday.
Scroggins and the Warhawks will be back in action this weekend when they host Appalachian State at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and Texas State at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the ULM Soccer Complex.
