Opening Statement
Disappointing. Thought they were a team we could compete with and I think we did compete with them. We just, lost a couple of plays out there, but it's been an emotional week. I think for the most part, the kids held it in. Defensively I thought be battled our tails off. Offensively, we got some movement we just got to continue to work and find the right combination of guys out there that can execute and get the ball in the end zone. Other than the fumbled punt, I thought the kicking game was solid, so a lot of work we got to do. We got to stay together and continue to work hard and get ready to go to Hawaii.
On Ben Luckett
Ben's a great running back and a great young man. I hated seeing him go down there because he was running hard. He's still going to be the guy we give carries to and we know he's capable of explosion plays. As well as getting the hard yards too. He came out with a shoulder of some kind, I guess and we'll see how that pans out. We just need to get back. Take a quick look at the film. Take Saturday off, come back Sunday and get ready to go.
On the defensive effort
I thought it was really good. Great defense don't care when they go out on the field. They don't care what the situation is. They just love going out and playing the game. I think we got some guys on our defense that did that. It's to their credit that we held up and forced those two field goals. It kind of shows their character and heart a little bit and this whole team has good heart and character. Everybody battled. There's no lack of effort. We have to continue to fix execution issues, on both sides of the ball, and get back Sunday and get ready to go.
On fewer penalties tonight [compared to other games]
Well the bench penalty was disappointing, but again our defense bailed us out of that and that's my fault I have got to do a better job of control. But like I said it's been an emotional week and these kids really believed they could take this game. We thought we had the scoop and score. Had that been the case we'd still kept the points and everything, but a relatively clean game. Not bad.
