How It Happened

--The Trojans forced a three-and-out to start the game and took over at midfield. A 26-yard completion and 17-yard rush did not faze the ULM defense, which stood tall and forced Troy into a 20-yard field goal. The Trojans took the 3-0 lead four minutes in.

--Garrett Smith was sacked on the ensuing possession while trying to throw downfield, and the loose ball was picked up by Darrin Reddick who ran it back 27 yards to the endzone. The Trojans increased their lead to 10-0 with 10:07 to go in the first quarter.

--The margin was stretched to 13-0 when Troy took over at the ULM 29 after recovering a fumble. A first down pass followed by a stout stand from the Warhawk defense sent Troy's field goal unit out for the second time. Jed Solomon's 28-yard field goal split the uprights with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.

--ULM answered right back on a six-play, 75-yard touchdown march. Smith found Marcus Green streaking across the field for a 47-yard completion and score. Green also had a 10-yard catch through the middle of the field on the previous play. That made it a 13-7 ballgame with 4:38 left in the first.

--Troy took a 20-7 lead after a three-play, 55-yard drive ended on Brandon Silvers' 43-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Holmes.

--ULM responded with a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive. Facing a 4th-and-10 at the Troy 30, Ajalen Holley broke past the Troy secondary for a wide-open loft to the end zone from Smith.

--Troy's first play after the ensuing kickoff was a 75-yard strike down the sideline from Silvers to Brandon Burks, increasing its lead to 27-14 with 33 seconds to go in the first quarter.

--The Trojans were able to get three more scores in the second quarter, highlighted by LaMarcus Farmer's 55-yard interception return touchdown and two Emanuel Thompson scoring receptions.

--A Troy field goal in the third quarter was the only score by either team in the second half.
