MONROE, La. – The freshmen duo of Marcus Green and Tara Jenkins from ULM football and volleyball were named Warhawk Male and Female of the Week, respectively, announced Monday.
Green, from Pontotoc, Miss., recorded a pair of career highs during Saturday's game at Troy. The redshirt freshman wide receiver set new bests in receptions (12) and receiving yards (149). It also marked his first career double-digit receiving contest and the first time in his career he tallied 100 or more receiving yards.
In the opening quarter of Saturday's contest he hauled in a 47 yard touchdown pass from Garrett Smith, it was his fourth touchdown grab of the season. He also hauled in a 24 yard pass from Smith in the contest and he now has six receptions of 20 or more yards on the season.
Green and the Warhawks will play their first home game since Oct. 17 as they host Arkansas State this weekend. The contest will kick-off at 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN3.
Jenkins, a freshman libero from Tomball, Texas, recorded 30 digs in five sets this week at a rate of 6.0 digs per set. The Tomball, Texas, native was also 29-for-30 (97 percent) in serve-receive.
Jenkins' 17 digs versus UT Arlington marked her highest mark and the second-highest ULM total in a three-set match this season. She added 13 digs (6.5 digs per set) versus Texas State.
Jenkins and the Warhawks will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Alabama A&M for a 6:00 p.m. match before wrapping up the season at home on Sunday against Georgia State at noon.
