Warhawks Fall to No. 14 WVU to Conclude Long Road Weekend

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – In its third road game in four days, the ULM men's basketball program dropped a 100-58 decision to 14th-ranked West Virginia on Sunday at WVU Coliseum.

Senior Jamaal Samuel recorded a career-high 19 points on 8-10 shooting. He scored the first 15 points for ULM (4-5, 1-0 SBC) in the contest. Freshman Travis Munnings also reached double-figures with 12 points and seven rebounds.

WVU (8-1), which entered the game averaging 4.6 made three-pointers per game, made 15 in the contest (15-36). Jevon Carter posted a game-high 21 points, Daxter Miles Jr. had 18 points and Devin Williams ended with a double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds.

ULM shot 22-43 (.512) from the field in the game, but the Mountaineers were able to force 21 turnovers. WVU shot 38-84 (.452) in the match and scored 35 points off turnovers.

ULM was without leading scorer Majok Deng for the third straight game after he sustained a leg injury earlier in week. He is out indefinitely for precautionary reasons. Deng was named National Mid-Major Player of the Week on Monday by College Sports Madness.

The Warhawks return home on Friday when they host Central Baptist at 7:00 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. ULM is 3-0 at home this season.

NOTES
- Samuel surpassed his previous career-high of 18 points which was set twice. His eight made field goals matched a career-high set last season at Little Rock on Feb. 5, 2015. Samuel registered his fourth consecutive double-figure scoring game. It was his sixth this season and 14th of his career

- Munnings notched his second consecutive double-digit scoring game. He's tallied six double-digit scoring outings in his last eight performances. Munnings went 5-6 from the field and is now shooting 44-76 (.579) on the year

- Junior Nick Coppola moved into the top-10 all-time at ULM in career starts with 74. He's started every game of his career. Coppola is also top-10 in school history in career assists and needs 11 more to move into ninth and catch Brian Spencer (277 assists). He finished the game with eight points

- Senior Mack Foster totaled a season-high five points off the bench

- The Warhawks battled inside and had more free throw attempts than the Mountaineers. ULM went 13-20 from the charity stripe, while WVU shot 9-16

- ULM has faced at least one ranked team in each of the last three seasons
