Warhawks Honor Senior Class in Regular Season Finale with No. 10/11 ULL

MONROE, La. – The Warhawks (28-20, 10-12 SBC) honor their 2015 senior class in the regular series finale with UL Lafayette (37-8, 20-3) with The Cajuns taking a 9-2 decision at the ULM Softball Complex on Sunday.

In pre-game festivities, ULM honor its seven senior members of the 2015 squad before taking on the Cajuns in the regular season finale.

Redshirt senior Miyuki Navarrete accounted for half of the Warhawks hits as she went 2-for-3 on the day and scored a run for the Warhawks.

Senior Alexis Cacioppo went 1-for-3 knocking her 33rd double of her career in her final home outing.

Senior Faith Bohack went 1-for-3 with an RBI to pick up 45 on the season and tie the ULM softball single-season record in the category.

Sophomore Melanie Coyne made the start before being lifted and then returning to the game to deal five total innings in the circle. Coyne allowed six runs off six hits and struck out a lone batter.

Freshman Paige Porter made two inning of relief as she allowed three runs off seven hits.

Coyne was tagged with the loss to move to 11-13 on the season. Christina Hamilton picked up the win for the Cajuns to move to 10-2. Jordan Wallace earned her second save of the season in the outing.

After allowing the Cajuns to score three runs in the top of the first, the Warhawks took one back in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore Rochelle Roberts drew a one-out walk and stole second to move into scoring position. Cacioppo followed with a walk to put two runners on for the Warhawks.

Bohack followed with a single to left field to plate Roberts and tie the ULM single-season RBI record.

The Cajuns added four runs in the second and one run in the fourth inning, but the Warhawks would not go down quietly.

Navarrete knocked a one-out single up the middle to lead off for the Warhawks. Senior Robbie Dailey, who broke her leg in the first practice of the spring, made her first appearance on the year to pinch run for one pitch of Roberts at bat.

Navarrete re-entered the game and swiped second. Roberts moved her to third on a groundout to the catcher. Navarrete scored on a wild pitch from Wallace, but the Cajuns took the series finale by a 9-2 score.

The Warhawks open the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 as sixth-seed ULM faces seventh-seed UT Arlington in an elimination game.
