College Sports Madness Names Deng SBC Player of the Week

MONROE, La. – Averaging 25 points in two games over the weekend, senior Majok Deng was awarded College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday morning.

Deng helped lead the Warhawks to a 2-0 weekend which featured an 85-74 victory over Troy and a 100-68 win over South Alabama.

The Adelaide, Australia native got it started with a 33-point outing against the Trojans on Thursday which matched his career-high. He logged 40 minutes, hit four three-pointers and went 12-20 from the field. Deng followed it up with a 17-point performance against the Jags on Saturday and went 9-10 from the free throw line.

Deng has scored at least 14 points in 11 of his last 12 appearances. He's posted 39 career double-figure scoring games and 14 this year. Deng ranks seventh all-time in ULM history in career blocks with 73 and swatted away five over the weekend.

His 33-point game against Troy marked the third time this season that he's scored at least 30 points in a game.

Deng has now won three weekly awards this season as he previously earned National Mid-Major Player of the Week on Dec. 7 and Louisiana Player of the Week on Dec. 21.

Deng and the Warhawks will remain at home this weekend when they host UT Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Texas State at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
