Mountaineers Spoil Warhawks Senior Day With 3-1 Defeat

Monroe, La. – The ULM Soccer team struggled to get anything going as Appalachian State added the pressure all day and the Mountaineers went on to win Sunday 3-1 to spoil Senior Day for ULM's five seniors.

THE TURNING POINT

In the 67th minute, Erin Settle recieved the ball from Maggie Hanusek and beat ULM keeper Brooke-Lynn Scroggins to give the Mountaineers a 2-1 lead. They would add one more to and ultimately win 3-1.

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks honored this year's senior class prior to the game - Emely Portillo-Segovia, Nancy Kirk Herrington, Kylie Kukowski, Whitney Tuckfield & Mary Ashton Lembo.

-Brooke-Lynn Scroggins came up with 13 saves on the afternoon, giving her a season best and was one off of her career high set last season. With her 13 saves she also moves into fifth place all-time in Warhawks history with 185 career saves passing Jennifer Doran (179).

-Senior Emely Portillo-Segovia buried her third goal of the season this afternoon to give the Warhawks their lone tally of the day.

-The Warhawks have now dropped all three meetings between the two teams as App State won the previous two in shutout fashion 1-0 & 2-0.

Thought on the game: We are dissapointed with our result today. Credit to Appalachian State for their hard work and finishing on their chances. We now turn our focus to the next one on Friday as Coastal is a quality opponent. 

UP NEXT

-ULM will start a road trip on Friday that will take them to Conway, S.C. to face Sun Belt newcomer Coastal Carolina. The Warhawks and Chanticleers will meet up at 5:00 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium in Conway.
