CHENEY, Wash. – The ULM Men's basketball team battled against Bryant on Tuesday night but came out on the wrong end of a 64-57 result in the sub-regional of the Legends Classic.
THE TURNING POINT
- With 12:09 to play, the Warhawks took a one-point lead on a layup from Marvin Jean-Pierre, however that would be the last time they had the lead as Bryant responded to retake the lead and extend the advantage by as much as nine down the stretch in Cheney.
NOTABLES
-Sam McDaniel paced the Warhawks with a season-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting, adding nine rebounds and two assists. Travis Munnings had 10 points and eight rebounds as they were the only two Warhawks to score in double figures.
-In the back-and-forth game, both teams stayed within striking distance throughout as neither team had a double digit lead. Bryant had a nine-point lead late in the second half to close the night while ULM had as much as a seven-point lead after a quick start to the second half.
-Marvin Jean-Pierre had a balanced game scoring seven points, five rebounds and four assists. The rebound mark is a season-high for Jean-Pierre, while his assists tie a season-high set in the season opener against Centenary.
-The Warhawks finished the night shooting 38.1 percent from the floor (24-of-63) and hit seven of their 25 three-point attempts. Bryant finished the game at 48.1 percent shooting (26-of-54) and hit six of its 20 three-point attempts.
-The Warhawks continued their strong performance on the offensive glass with their second straight game with 12 offensive rebounds, led by McDaniel's three offensive rebounds.
-The Warhawks and Bulldogs met for the first time in each school's history on Tuesday night.
