MONROE, La. -- ULM starter Brandon Bell tossed seven strong innings and ULM got a trio of home runs en route to a 6-2 win over Appalachian State in Saturday's series finale at Warhawk Field. With the victory, the Warhawks claimed the series, two games to one.
Brandon Bell (2-2) earned the win after seven innings of work in which he allowed just one run on three hits with three walks and seven punchouts.
Appalachian State (5-19, 1-8 Sun Belt) plated the game's first run on a RBI single up the middle by Tanner Mann-Fix in the top of the third.
ULM (10-13, 2-4) answered right back with five runs in the bottom of the third. ULM's five runs came on two swings of the bat as Jacob Stockton tallied a three-run homer and Tyler Cox hit a two-run homer as ULM catapulted into the lead.
The Warhawks added another run in the fifth as Will Daniels sent a solo shot over the wall in left.
Appalachian State set the final tally at 6-2 as it pushed one run across (via a wild pitch) in the top of the eighth inning.
Stockton led the Warhawks with two hits, three RBI and one run, while Spencer Hemphill tallied two hits and one run.
Mountaineer starter Colin Schmid (0-6) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and one walk in 2.1 innings of work.

- Jacob Stockton hit his fourth homer of the season, a three-run homer over the wall in left in the bottom of the third.
- Tyler Cox hit his first homer as a Warhawk, a two-run shot that cleared the wall in left in the third.
- Will Daniels collected his first career homer, a solo shot to left, in the bottom of the fifth.
- Nathan Pugh tallied his fourth triple of the season in the bottom of the sixth.
- Brandon Bell earned his second win in as many starts. He was the winning pitcher in last weekend's road finale at No. 26 Dallas Baptist.
- Brandon Bell tied a career-best with seven innings pitched. He finished just one strikeout shy of tying his career-best.
- Anthony Herrera tossed a perfect ninth as he struck out the side.
- The all-time series between ULM and Appalachian State is now tied at three games each and the home team has won both series by a count of two games to one.

ULM and Northwestern State will play a pair of midweek games beginning on Tuesday. Tuesday's game will begin at 6 p.m. in Natchitoches, while Wednesday's game will be at Warhawk Field (6 p.m.).
