The Warhawks (19-21, 4-8 SBC) posted a 1-1 record in midweek action, dropping a 6-2 game to Northwestern State before besting Louisiana Tech 3-2.
Junior Rochelle Roberts and sophomore Cheyanne Lyon each batted .500 (2-4) with a double during the two-game stretch. Roberts is batting .500 (63-126) on the year and has a 90% (28-31) stolen base success rate.
Senior Faith Bohack hit her seventh home run and accounted for both runs in the loss to the Lady Demons.
Junior Melanie Coyne (13-14) tossed her 14th complete game of the season in ULM's 3-2 win over Louisiana Tech. Senior Amye Barre was hit for the 38th time in her career against the Lady Techsters which ties the program record.
The Warhawks held a team meeting this past week with the focus shifting to the importance of taking in each game as a championship-like setting.
“We were talking about playing every game like we are playing for the conference championship,” Coyne said. “So every game is the last game. Our first game against Troy we are going to go out there and play like it's our last game.”
The Trojans (23-13, 4-5 SBC) rely heavily on the long ball for their scoring, ranking 11th in the nation in home runs per game (1.3), with senior right fielder Hannah Day leading the way with 14 home runs, good for second-most in the SBC. Troy is on a three-game losing streak after falling twice to South Carolina and a game to No. 3 Auburn.
The Warhawks are winless in 16 games when scoring two or less runs and 11-0 when scoring at least six. ULM (2.4) and Troy (2.1) rank atop the SBC in stolen bases per game.
ULM Series Record versus the Trojans: 11-20 - the Warhawks were swept in Troy last year.
