RUSTON, La. – The ULM men's and women's cross country teams turned in its second straight strong showing of the season on Saturday as both teams took home first place finishes at the Mook Triple-Duals hosted by Louisiana Tech in Ruston.

THE TURNING POINT

On the women's side, the Warhawks placed their top six runners inside the top 15, including a second place finish by Angela Jepchirchir as part of three top-10 finishers. The ULM men posted four runners in the top 10, led by Elias Keter's third place showing.

NOTABLES

-Jepchirchir's time of 19:20 in the women's three mile race was 14 seconds off the top pace, set by Louisiana Tech's Kacie Kaufman. This was the second consecutive race that Jepchirchir has led the Warhawk women.

-Kaitlyn Fleming (20:30, sixth) and Kennedy Smith (20:35, eighth) rounded out the ULM top-10 finishers, while Baillie Cunningham (21:33, 11th), Josie Wood (21:43, 13th) and Brittany Garrison (21:57, 15th) closed out the Warhawks' top runners.

-Keter's time of 21:03 in the men's four mile race was 11 seconds off the top pace, set by Louisiana Tech's Manoah Kiptum. Kipkirui Victor finished strides behind Keter in fourth place for the Warhawks with his time of 21:07. Keter and Victor flipped top finishing positions this week after also being the top two ULM runners last week.

-Brandon McDonald (22:02, eighth) and Jacob Holland (22:13, 10th) closed out the Warhawks' top-10 finishers, while Jacob Holland (22:13. 11th) and John Neal (22:36, 14th) rounded out ULM's top 15.

-In total, the Warhawk men and women each saw nine runners compete in their respective races on Saturday.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks will be off next weekend in preparation for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on October 1 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This year will mark the 28th year of the event, with more than 80 collegiate teams competing in addition to over 200 high school teams. Nearly 6,000 combined competitors are expected to run on October 1.
