San Marcos, Texas – The ULM men's basketball team could not overcome a hot shooting Texas State performance in route to a 63-57 loss on Monday night in Strahan Coliseum.
THE TURNING POINT
-After holding the Bobcats scoreless from beyond the arc in the first half, Texas State was able to hit 6-of-15 from deep in the second half to help propel the hosts to a six-point victory.
NOTABLES
-After the Warhawks were up by three at the half, Texas State hit a three-pointer with nine minutes remaining to take a 44-41 lead. ULM would tie the game on the next possession via a three-pointer by Marcus Washington, only to see Texas State go on a 9-0 run over the next five minutes and grab control for the stretch run.
-Washington was a spark for the Warhawks off the bench, scoring 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting while grabbing a career-high eight rebounds and tying a career-high with three assists. He also tied a career high with three steals in the loss.
-Sam McDaniel added 14 points, going 5-of-11 from the floor and grabbing nine rebounds. Jordon Harris and Nick Coppola added 10 points apiece. Harris added five assists while Coppola had three assists.
-The Warhawks continued to be effective on the offensive glass with another 10 offensive rebounds. As a team the Warhawks have had 13 games with double figure rebounding performance through their first 20 games this season. Munnings leads the Warhawks with 51 offensive rebounds while Sam McDaniel follows closely behind with 37 rebounds on the offensive end.
-Senior Nick Coppola currently sits with 495 assists over his three-plus seasons with the Warhawks. He is now only five assists away from becoming just the eighth active NCAA Division I player to have 1,000 points and 500 assists in his career.
-Coppola and Harris both played the full 40 minutes on Monday, marking the seventh time this season that at least two Warhawks have played 40-plus minutes this season. Coppola has now played 40+ minutes in 44 games in his career.
-The Bobcats were led by a trio of double figure scorers as Nijal Pearson paced them with 18 points. Jones made 6-of-14 field goals while also grabbing eight rebounds. Bobby Conley added 14 points while Kevin Gilder-Tilbury had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

-Following Monday night's contest, the Warhawks now come back home to Fant-Ewing Coliseum for a pair of home contests starting with Saturday afternoon contest against Arkansas State. The matchup with the Red Wolves will tipoff at 4:00 p.m. as the second game of a doubleheader following the ULM women's basketball contest.
