Coastal Carolina Squeaks Past ULM on Monday Night

Conway, S.C. – The ULM men's basketball team could not overcome a 53 percent second half shooting performance by the host Chanticleers on Monday night as Coastal Carolina was able to pull out a 77-72 victory in ULM's final Sun Belt Conference road game this season.

THE TURNING POINT                                                     

-In a game that featured a total of 12 ties and 15 lead changes, the Chanticleers held the Warhawks without a field goal over the last 2:42 of the game to pull away and secure the home win.

NOTABLES

-For the fifth time this season, ULM had five players score in double figures, led by Marvin Jean-Pierre's 14 points off of the bench. Jean-Pierre added six rebounds, including four offensive boards, and three assists. Sam McDaniel and Marcus Washington each added 13 points, while Nick Coppola and Travis Munnings both chipped in 12 points.

-Coppola scored all 12 of his points on four three pointers, just one three shy of his season-high. He also tied a career-best with eight rebounds and dished out five assists in 37 minutes of action.

-The Warhawks buried 11 three pointers, led by Coppola's four, which was just one shy of a season-high set back in the season-opening win against Centenary.

-ULM went 15-of-17 at the foul line on Monday night, an 88.2 percent clip, which is the team's highest percentage in Sun Belt action this season.

-The Chanticleers won the points in the paint battle 36-22 while also outscoring ULM 14-3 in points off turnovers. The hosts had a 12-0 advantage in fast break points as well.

-Coastal Carolina moved to 3-0 all-time against the Warhawks on Monday, which was the first meeting between the schools as Sun Belt Conference members and was also the first game not played at a neutral site.

-The Warhawks head back to Monroe for their final two home games of the season beginning on Thursday with SBC leader UT Arlington. The matchup with the Mavericks will tip at 7:00 p.m.
