Statesboro, Ga. - The ULM women's basketball team's first half battle wasn't enough in a 76-65 Sun Belt Conference road loss at Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon.
TURNING POINT
ULM led the charge with 22 points in the first frame to lead by seven points, but Georgia Southern closed the gap to tie the score at 33-all at the half. The Eagles came out of the break and created some distance in the third quarter, going on a 17-2 run while outscoring the Warhawks 25-12 overall in the quarter.
NOTABLES
-Carissa Moody led all scorers with a new career-high 25 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from behind the arch. The freshman filled out her stat line with six rebounds (five defensive), four assists and one steal.
-Alexis Collins followed closely behind with 16 points of her own, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor. Collins also passed out six assists, grabbed three defensive rebounds, had one block and one steal.
-Lauren Marker was also able to grab double digits to tie her career-high with 11 points. Marker shot 4-of-8 from the floor, including 3-of-7 from behind the arch. The senior also grabbed three defensive rebounds and one assist.
-Stephanie Ratliff and Gabriella Cortez grabbed double-digit rebounds in the game. Ratliff finished with 11 rebounds (six defensive) and Cortez grabbed 11 rebounds (six defensive) in the contest. Cortez also finished with nine points.
-ULM shot at a 44.8 percent clip on the game (26-of-58) compared to the 38.6 percent (27-of-70) of the Eagles.
-Georgia Southern forced ULM into committing 17 turnovers, with the hosts turning those into 14 points. The Eagles also had big contributions from their bench, finishing with 30 points bench scoring, led by Alexis Brown's team-high 22 points.

The Warhawks will return home this Thursday and Saturday to continue Sun Belt Conference play, hosting Troy on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. before a Saturday afternoon contest against South Alabama.
