Statesboro, Ga. – The ULM men's basketball team allowed a season-high 13 three-point baskets to Georgia Southern in route to a 76-62 loss on Saturday against the host Eagles in Statesboro.
THE TURNING POINT
-The Warhawks cut the Georgia Southern lead to nine with 15:46 to go in the game with a Nick Coppola jumper to make it 49-40. The Eagles however, used three triples as part of an 11-0 run to push their lead back up to 20 and never looked back.
NOTABLES
-The Warhawks were led by senior guard Marcus Washington's 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. The 15 points by Washington tied his career-high previously set against Grambling earlier this year. For the fourth time this season, Washington hit six field goals in a game.
-Travis Munnings added 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for his 10th career double-double and first since December 31, 2016 at Little Rock.
-The Warhawks continued to be effective on the offensive glass with 10 offensive rebounds as a team. As a team, the Warhawks have now had 14 games with double figure rebounding performanced through their first 23 games this season. Munnings leads the Warhawks with 56 offensive rebounds while Sam McDaniel follows behind with 40 rebounds on the offensive end.
-The Eagles had a trio of players put up double figures to lead the way on Saturday led by Ike Smith's 22 points. Smith scored that on 7-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Mike Hughes had 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting (five three-pointers). Tookie Brown added 15 points.
-The Warhawks and Eagles met for the 16th time on Saturday afternoon in Statesboro, with the Warhawks still holding a 10-6 head-to-head record. The Eagles swept the Warhawks for the first time in the series history on Saturday.
