Panthers Race Past Warhawks On Monday Night

Atlanta, Ga. – The ULM men's basketball team could not overcome a hot start by Georgia State on Monday night as the host Panthers came away with a 69-55 victory in Sun Belt Conference play in Atlanta.

THE TURNING POINT                                                     

-The Panthers jumped on the Warhawks quickly, using a 15-3 run to begin the game before taking a 14-point lead into the halftime break. 

NOTABLES

-The Warhawks were paced Monday night by Nick Coppola's 16 points, coming on 6-of-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds. The senior also had four assists while playing the full 40 minutes in the loss.

-Travis Munnings added 15 points and pulled down six rebounds while also going 6-of-12 from the floor for the Warhawks while also making 3-of-5from beyond the arc.

-With his four three's in the contest, Coppola is now tied with Larry Carr for fourth in ULM program history with 175 made three-pointers in his Warhawk career.

-The Panthers had four players put up double figures to lead the way on Monday, led by Jeremy Hollowell with 19 points. Hollowell scored that on 8-of-14 shooting and hit 3-of-6from beyond the arc. Malik Benlevi added 14 points for the Panthers while Isaiah Williams chipped in with 11 and D'Marcus Simonds added 10.

-The Warhawks continued to be effective on the offensive glass with another 13 offensive rebounds. As a team the Warhawks have now had 15 games with double figure rebounding performance through their first 24 games this season. Munnings leads the Warhawks with 57 offensive rebounds while Sam McDaniel follows behind with 41 rebounds on the offensive end.

-Following Monday's contest, the Warhawks return home to begin a three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when they welcome in South Alabama. Tip off will be at 4:00 p.m. inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
