Watch - Stats

MONROE, La.  -  The ULM softball team opens Sun Belt Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at UTA with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon before the series finale on Sunday.

NOTABLES

Last time out: The Warhawks are coming off of a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas on Tuesday. With Melanie Coyne on second after a leadoff double in the fourth, Jessie Watts drove in the only run of the game with a two-out double to left center that turned out to be the difference in the contest.

Turf sweet Turf: Following the weekend series, the Warhawks will return home for the first time since playing against Northwestern State on February 22. The Warhawks first game back at home will be a midweek game against Incarnate Word on Wednesday, March 15, before their SBC home opening series against Georgia Southern on March 18 and 19.

UTA: The Mavericks will also be playing their first Sun Belt Conference series of the season this weekend. UTA is coming off of a weekend where the team hosted a tournament and went 2-2 on the weekend. The team currently holds a winning 7-5 record on their home field.

FROM COACH LYON

"We are excited to kick off the Sun Belt Conference season this weekend at Arlington. UTA is a solid team and they play well at home so we will have our work cut out for us. They have a great young pitcher in Samantha Clakley and a couple of very good hitters in Krista Rude and Sandra Mendoza. We will have to attack early at the plate, execute situationally and win with two outs. On defense we need to be solid in the short game and go after them in the circle."
