CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Louisiana Monroe played one of its most competitive matches of the season on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 2 but lost in straight sets to host Chattanooga, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20), in the second round of the Chattanooga Classic. There were 16 ties and seven lead changes in the match.
The first set featured eight ties and four lead changes. Trailing 20-13, ULM put together a 4-0 run to pull to within 20-17, but the Mocs won five of the next six points to take the opening frame, 25-18.
The second set was equally tight, with seven ties and three lead changes. The Warhawks went on a 5-1 run to build a 15-11 advantage, but Chattanooga stormed back, tallying 14 of the last 19 points to claim a 2-0 lead in the match.

"As a team, we were more aggressive from the service line and that helped slow things down and put us in better, more manageable situations," ULM head coach
Patrick Hiltz said.
UTC junior Emily Plumlee hit .583 (8-1-12) for the match, while red-shirt sophomore Ally Ford recorded a match-best 12 kills.
ULM junior
Sarah Woods led the team in hitting percentage (.250), including a team-high nine kills.
"Sarah was fantastic for us against UTC," Hiltz said. "She had some absolute bombs from the right side and was patient and willing to take what the defense gave her. I'd say it was easily her best match in a Warhawk uniform."
The Warhawks conclude Day 2 of tournament play against Sam Houston State at 3:30 p.m.
