MONROE, La. – Second-year ULM head baseball coach Mike Federico has announced his team's 56-game 2019 schedule, which features 28 home games including a seven-game homestand in March.
The Warhawks will play 27 games against opponents that won 30 or more games last season, including 13 games against seven teams that participated in the 2018 NCAA Tournament (LSU, Army, Northwestern State, Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Troy).
"We're excited to announce the 2019 spring schedule," Federico said. "It's a challenging schedule that will prepare us for our league play. The two tournaments will provide NCAA Regional-type atmospheres, and playing in venues like LSU and Wahoos Stadium will expose our players to great crowds and prepare us for the postseason.
"With so many newcomers on this year's team, we wanted to play the best teams possible. So, with seven opponents that played in the NCAA Regionals last season along with numerous 30-win teams, our guys will be well prepared.
"We're also excited to have 28 home games on the schedule, so Warhawk Nation can come see a great brand of ULM Baseball."
ULM opens the 2019 season on the road at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as a participant in the "Military Appreciation Weekend," with single games scheduled against host LSU (Feb. 15), Air Force (Feb. 16) and Army (Feb. 17).
The Warhawks welcome SIUE to Monroe for a four-game series (Feb. 22; Feb. 23 doubleheader; and Feb. 24).
ULM plays its next six games on the road, beginning with a trip to Northwestern State (Feb. 26), followed by three single games in Pensacola, Florida, against Tennessee (March 1), Western Kentucky (March 2) and North Florida (March 3), and a two-game series at Southeastern Louisiana (March 5-6).
The Warhawks open their longest homestand (seven games) of the season with a three-game series against McNeese State (March 8-10), followed by a single game against Southern (March 12) before opening Sun Belt play with a three-game series against Coastal Carolina (March 15-17).
ULM's non-conference schedule features eight other midweek games, including road trips to Southern Miss (March 19), Louisiana Tech (March 26), Mississippi State (April 3) and Southern (April 23) as well as home contests against Northwestern State (April 9; May 14), LA Tech (April 16), and Alcorn State (April 30).
The Warhawks' four other Sun Belt home series are against Georgia Southern (March 29-31), Little Rock (April 18-20), UT Arlington (May 3-5) and UL Lafayette (May 16-18). ULM's five conference road series include trips to Texas State (March 22-24), Georgia State (April 5-7), Appalachian State (April 12-14), Arkansas State (April 26-28) and Troy (May 10-12). The Warhawks do not play South Alabama during the regular season.
The 2019 Sun Belt Baseball Championship will be held May 21-26 in Conway, South Carolina.
