"When we get into Sun Belt play, we're going to be playing every Thursday and Saturday," said head women's basketball coach
Jeff Dow. "Two games in three days. That's what we're looking at with this road trip. Fortunately, we've been pretty good on the road the last few games and showed pretty good focus I thought at both New Orleans and Northwestern State. I think they'll be ready to get the bad taste out of their mouth from what we experienced against Nicholls on Friday."
ULM (5-3) had its five-game winning streak snapped on Friday. The Warhawks held a 16-point halftime lead over Nicholls, but the Colonels rallied for a narrow 55-54 victory. SLU will be the fifth Southland Conference foe ULM has faced in 2018-19, as the Warhawks have wins over McNeese, New Orleans and Northwestern State to their credit.
Despite the loss to Nicholls, ULM tied a school record for fewest points allowed in a half. The Warhawks held the Colonels to 10 first-half points, including just four points in the second quarter. The record was initially set on Feb. 6, 1985, against North Texas. Nicholls shot just 5-of-28 from the field (17.9%), 0-of-8 from three-point range and did not attempt a free throw in the first half.
ULM also showed improvement in rebounding on Friday. The Warhawks out-rebounded Nicholls 42-29, pulling in 19 offensive rebounds in the contest.
Arsula Clark and
Amber Thompson tied for the teamlead for ULM with eight rebounds each. Thompson collected four offensive rebounds while Clark had three.
Jamie Means tracked down five total rebounds with three on the offensive end.
Clark is the leader for the Warhawks with 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Destini Lunsford joins Clark in double figures with 10.1 points per contest, while
Whitney Goins has been ULM's top distributor with 3.4 assists per outing.

Southeastern (4-4) will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when the Warhawks come to town. On Saturday, SLU dropped a 51-48 defensive struggle at Alabama A&M.
Â
In the loss, Celica Sterling led the Lady Lions with a game-high 20 points. Jaclyn Scholvin added 16 points, while also pacing Southeastern with three assists. Tyler Morrison grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for SLU.
Southeastern has seen its offensive output stagnate during its current skid, as the Lady Lions are averaging 49.7 points per game over the last three games and 56.0 points per outing for the season. Sterling leads SLU with 15.3 points per game, while also ranking among the Southland leaders with 3.3 three-point field goals per game.
Monday's game will be the 34
th all-time meeting between the two in-state schools. ULM leads 22-11, defeating SLU, 88-84, in Hammond in the last meeting during the 2015-16 season.
