Softball Looking For First Sun Belt Series Win at Georgia Southern

MONROE, La. – ULM head softball coach Corey Lyon and his 12-11 Warhawks are headed to Statesboro, Georgia for a two-day, three-game road series against Georgia Southern. The Hawks will be on the hunt for their first Sun Belt series win of the season.
 
The Warhawks (12-11, 2-4) are hoping to continue to build the momentum off a 6-4 win over the Trojans in game three of the conference-series on Sunday (Mar.18). ULM took down Troy behind a four-run first-inning and five RBI from junior catcher Brie Wrobel.
 
Senior Rochelle Roberts continues to see success at the plate, rolling into the weekend on a 15-game hitting-streak. Roberts is only second to Sydney McKay in batting average for ULM, as McKay has compiled a .430 average at the plate through 23 games.
 
McKay also leads the conference in total hits, totaling 37 hits this season. With the help of Roberts and McKay, the Warhawks are atop the Sun Belt with a .317 team batting average, one of only two teams averaging .300 or better.  
 
The Eagles (19-9, 4-2) recently suffered a mid-week loss to No.7 Georgia, who defeated GS, 10-3 on Wednesday (Mar.21). Georgia Southern put up six hits against the Bulldogs.
 
Georgia Southern's Alesha Mann led the Eagles in the loss, with two RBI. In the Sun Belt, Mann is ranked third in total bases, totaling 56 so far this year. Teammate Hannah Farrell is known for her slugging-ways, stacking-up seven home runs on a .621 slugging percentage.
 
ULM is 8-3 overall against GS, claiming all three wins on the road. The two teams have even met twice before in the Sun Belt Tournament, where the Warhawks claiming both wins as well.
 
In previous year's series, the Warhawks claimed the series defeated the Eagles in game one (3-0) and game three (1-0), in nine innings.
