Warhawks Finish Blues City Classic with 8-4 Loss Against UMKC

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - ULM Softball is headed home to Monroe, after playing the three-day Blues City Classic in Memphis. The Warhawks are loading the busses with two more wins, but also two more losses- after most recently falling to Missouri- Kansas City, 8-4 on Sunday (Mar.4).

The Warhawks has found themselves trailing after the first inning for the second game in-a-row, after the Roos posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the first with back-to-back RBI singles.

ULM responded with its next at-bat, as Ana Hogan blasted her third homer of the year to get the Hawks on the board.

Victoria Pederson would steal home to bring in another run and tie it up. Jayden Mount earned an RBI single during her time at the plate when she scored Sydney McKay to gives the Warhawks their first lead of the game (3-2).

But of course, UMKC would not go down that easily; Missouri-Kansas City took the lead once more, after a ground out RBI and a Warhawk error would give the Roos a 4-3 advantage.

The third and fourth innings would come and go for the teams, both holding the other scoreless.

The Warhawks would score their fourth and final run in the fifth inning off the bat of Hunter Hogan, who's double to left center would scored Rochelle Roberts.

ULM could not keep UMKC's bats at bay and would lose 8-4 when the Roos had their way with Warhawk pitcher Rachael Murphy in the sixth inning.

Missouri-Kansas City first took a 5-4 lead on a Warhawk error, allowing a runner to steal home. The Roos would lite up ULM's defense with a sacrifice fly to left-center, a double, and another Warhawk error, brining their run total to eight for the win.

The Hawks are now 10-7 on the season overall and return to Monroe for the week before heading to Boone, North Carolina this weekend (Mar.10-11) to open up Sun Belt Conference play against Applachian State.
