2018 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships / Final Results
SAN MARCOS, Texas – ULM's
Levaughn Battick and
Elias Keter earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and 5000-meter run, respectively, as the Warhawks capped off the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships with 12 Top-10 finishes on Sunday (May 14) in San Marcos, Texas, on the Texas State campus.

ULM completed the weekend with 20 Top-10 individual finishes, three Top-10 team finishes and a combined 13 Top-10 performances by the tandem of
Austin Walker and
Brice Chaney in the men's decathlon event. That placed the Warhawks in a tie for seventh place with South Alabama in the men's team rankings (61 points), seven points shy of Coastal Carolina for sixth. The ULM women's squad was 11th in the women's team rankings (seven points) to conclude the three-day event.

"It was a heck of a meet for our men, who came back from being down in the last two events of the day, to pass UL-Lafayette and finish tied with South Alabama," ULM head coach
J.D. Malone said. "It was a great effort throughout the weekend for our men's team, and I couldn't be more proud."

Battick claimed third place in the men's 110-meter hurdles by crossing the line in a time of 14.01. He was edged out by Emeka Nwangwu (UT-Arlington) and Kevondre Hunt (Coastal Carolina), who reached the line in 13.90 and 13.99 in succession. Battick was one of five ULM performers to notch a top-three finish at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships.

Keter made his presence felt in the men's 5000-meter race by finishing third to the combination of Adriaan Widdschutt (Coastal Carolina) and Justin Domangue (UT-Arlington). Wildschutt took home top honors by finishing in a time of 14:52.62, followed shortly thereafter by Domangue (14:55.40) and Keter (14:58.11).

Alton Clay earned his third top-five finish of the weekend, the most of any Warhawk, with a fourth-place performance in the men's discus with a mark of 174-feet, 3-inches. Clay also finished second in the hammer throw and third in the shot put.

Clay began his afternoon in the discus with a heave of 165-7 (50.49 meters) before recording a distance of 171-2 (52.17m) on his second attempt. His third and fourth tosses traveled 170-0 (51.82m) and 165-4 (50.40m), respectively, before emerging with his best heave of the day (174-3 / 53.11m) on his fifth attempt. Clay was topped in the event by UT-Arlington's Adama Damadzic, who took home the title with a mark of 181-7 (55.34m).

Also taking part in the men's discus event were
Micah Dye, who finished ninth with a heave of 155-1, and
Kyle Weiss, who placed 12th with a toss of 153-2.

Eric Hawkins took part in the men's 800 meter run, crossing the line fifth in a time of 1:52.33. One of eight runners participating, Erik Martinsson (UT-Arlington) was the top finisher in a time of 1:49.10.

Kourtni Russell was ULM's top women's finisher on Sunday, placing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.97. Russell was 0.48 seconds off the pace established by Kylah Smith (Texas State), who claimed the title.

Micaiah Dendy joined her teammate with a Top 10-finish on Sunday, placing eighth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 39-8 1/2 (12.10m). Dendy opened her afternoon with jumps of 38-2 3/4 (11.65m) and 38-10 1/2 (11.85m) before stretching out to 39-8 1/2 (12.10m) on her third attempt. After a foul on her fourth attempt, she came through with leaps of 39-6 3/4 and 39-0 1/4 in succession. Top honors at the event went to Chineme Obikudu (UT-Arlington), who recorded a jump of 42-7 1/2 (12.99m).

Colm Bourke had his second Top-10 finish of the weekend on Sunday, after placing 10th in the long jump, as he finished ninth in the men's triple jump. Riddled by fouls on his first, fourth and fifth attempts, Bourke first eclipsed 13 meters on his second attempt when he reached a distance of 43-1 1/2 (13.14m). He followed that with his best performance of the day (45-5 1/4 / 13.85m) before a 42-6 3/4 (12.97m) jump on his sixth and final attempt.

ULM laid claim to three Top-10 finishes in the relay events on Sunday as well. The combination of
Kourtni Russell,
Germanii Murphy,
Ava Paul and
La'Porcha Griggs guided the 4x100-meter relay unit to an eighth-place finish in 47.36. Their male counterparts, Kenneth Johnson, Jemal Parharm,
Emile Trahan and
Colm Bourke, placed ninth in the men's 4x100 relays in a time of 42.25. The Warhawk 4x400-meter relay unit came through with a 10th place finish by crossing the line 4:00.87.
