MONROE, La. – ULM will kick off the 2018 football season against Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. CT in Malone Stadium. The 2018 season and home opener was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1.
 
"We're extremely excited about this special opportunity to kick off the 2018 season with a Thursday night home game," ULM Athletics Director Nick Floyd said. "Several student groups as well as fans in the community expressed an interest in kicking off our home football schedule with a Thursday night game on Labor Day weekend. It's an opportunity to maximize attendance for the home opener as well as generate some national exposure for our football program. We believe it will be a positive experience for our entire Warhawk family, including the student body, and the Athletics Department certainly couldn't pull something like this off without campus-wide cooperation."
 
"We're looking forward to playing the 2018 season opener against Southeastern under the lights in Malone Stadium," third-year ULM head coach Matt Viator said. "We're confident our fans will create an electric atmosphere and help jump-start our season."
 
Viator welcomes back 18 starters from last year's team, including nine on offense, eight on defense and one specialist. In 2017, ULM ranked among the Sun Belt leaders in total offense (second at 458.2 yards per game), scoring offense (second at 33.9 points per game), passing offense (third at 287.9 ypg.) and rushing offense (fourth at 170.3 ypg.). The Warhawks also ranked among the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision leaders in total offense (No. 21), passing offense (No. 24), scoring offense (No. 25) and passing efficiency (No. 29 with a 146.2 rating).
 
The 2018 season opener marks the 48th meeting between ULM and Southeastern Louisiana. The Warhawks have won four of the last five games in the series, including the last meeting on Sept. 25, 2010, 21-20, in Malone Stadium.
 
ULM football season tickets remain on sale. In March, ULM announced a new season-ticket pricing structure that featured a $20 savings per season ticket compared to a year ago. Season-ticket packages are available at $155 for lower chair backs, $105 for lower bench and upper chair backs and $70 for general admission. Faculty and staff season-ticket packages are priced at $135 for lower chair backs, $90 for lower bench and upper chair backs and $60 for upper bench.
