ULM Falls to Louisiana Tech, 4-0

Soccer
RUSTON, La. – The ULM women's soccer team made a second half push on Sunday (Aug. 26), in an attempt to make up a two-goal half-time deficit against Louisiana Tech, but inevitably fell to the Lady Techsters, 4-0. ULM falls to 0-4 on the season.

"We have to find the fight we brought to the pitch after the half, at the beginning of the match," said third year head soccer coach Keyton Wheelock.

The Warhawks struggled in the first 45 minutes, only able to get off one shot, which came from freshman Cassidy Wiest.

The second half yielded a higher energy squad, one that went from being outshot 1-9 in the first half, to matching Louisiana Tech's offensive attack with seven shots each.

ULM held the corner advantage three to one and despite three shots on goal, the Warhawks were unable to make any of their scoring attempts come to fruition.

Alexiss Trudeau led the Warhawks with two shots, while Amanda Castillo, Shenna Martin, and Erika Wiest were the only three Warhawks with shots on goals.

"I thought we have some girls really step up and have their best game tonight," Wheelock said. "But we have to find a way to play our best in every game. Consistency and effort is key."

The Warhawks have seen improvements since game one, including more shots and corner kicks. It's only a matter of time before Wheelock and her squad of 24 find their groove.

Freshman goal keeper Bre Truscott saw all 90 minutes of the pitch tonight for the second game in a row. The Alberta, Canada native locked in seven saves.

ULM will return to Monroe for a week of practice before loading the busses once again, the Warhawks will visit McNeese on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. in Lake Charles.
