MONROE, La. – The ULM women's basketball team has been working hard in the gym this week, with no usual game on Thursday night, the Warhawks had the opportunity to spend a little extra time at practice as they prepared to jump back into Sun Belt play against the Ragin' Cajuns this Saturday (Jan. 19).
ULM (7-8, 1-3) started strong in last Saturday's game against Georgia State (Jan. 12), posting a 19-9 lead after a quarter thanks to 10 points from sophomore guard
Arsula Clark, but in the third quarter, GSU used an 18-0 run to take control of the game, rolling to the 56-41 win.
Clark is leading the Warhawks, scoring 13.0 points per game to lead the Warhawks. That number ranks her 14th in the conference in scoring and Clark's 7.1 rebounds per game leads ULM and places her ninth in the Sun Belt.
Backing Clark on the score sheet is junior transfer,
Lauren Fitch. Fitch's .429 field goal percentage leads ULM in that category and her .732 free throw percentage also is the tops on the team. Fitch's .732 free throw percentage puts her 12th in the Sun Belt.
Overall ULM has dropped three out of its last four games, with its lone conference win coming on a buzzer beater over Georgia Southern on Jan. 10.
ULM's 58.1 points per game allowed ranks the Warhawks second in the conference and 58th in the NCAA. While the Warhawks' defensive field goal percentage of .373 also puts them second in the Sun Belt and 76th in the country.
All-time ULM leads the series 43-15, with this being the 59th meeting all-time between Louisiana and ULM. A win from Louisiana would be the fourth-straight win at home against ULM and push its winning streak to nine games, stretching back to 2015.
Saturday's game will be televised on Cox Sports TV with Dan McDonald (play-by-play) and Lawana Stokes (analyst) handling the calling duties. Links to live stats and video are available at ULMWarhawks.com; live, in-game updates can be found by following the Warhawks on Twitter at @ULM_WBB.
