ULM's Hot Defense to Face Troy's Fiery Offense on Thursday

Women's Basketball
MONROE, La. – The ULM's basketball team continues its three-game road stint on Thursday (Jan. 24) when it visits Sun Belt top dog, Troy. Tip-off between the Warhawks and Trojans is slated for 6 p.m.

Troy enters the game with the Sun Belt's top offense averaging 82.6 points per game, while the Warhawks (7-9, 1-4) have held opponents to a league-best 57.8 points per contest. In other conference rankings, ULM ranks second in field goal percentage defense (37.3 percent) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.5 percent).

The Trojans are 14-3 on the season and sit at 5-1 in Sun Belt Conference, good for a tie for first with Little Rock. Troy owns the early tiebreaker with Little Rock thanks to a 71-66 head-to-head win on Jan. 10

ULM's last time out, the Warhawks fell to the Ragin' Cajuns, 52-45. ULM and Louisiana went toe-to-toe for a majority of the game, but the Warhawks poor shooting efficiency left them struggling to maintain momentum.

Sophomore guard Arsula Clark notched her third double-double of the season in the loss on Saturday. Clark led all scorers with 16 points and pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds. All three of Clark's double-doubles have come on the road this year, picking up 22 points and 12 rebounds at Houston Baptist on Dec. 19 and 18 points and 12 rebounds at Arkansas State on Jan. 5. She now has five double-doubles in her career. Clark ranks ninth in the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding at 7.3 per game.

Troy leads the nation averaging 51.6 rebounds per game. The Trojans are also first with 23.0 offensive rebounds per contest leading to an average of 20.4 second chance points.

The Trojans are 6-1 inside of Trojan Arena this year, with their lone loss coming to Middle Tennessee, 67-64, on Dec. 4.

Thursday's game is the 23rd all-time meeting between ULM and Troy. The Trojans have won four straight meetings and six of the last seven meetings. The two teams have played at least twice per season since ULM joined the Sun Belt Conference prior to the 2006-07 season. Troy won the only postseason meeting, 66-65, in 2008.
