Warhawks Snag Eight Top-15 Finishes on Day One of Texas Tech Classic

TEXAS TECH CLASSIC | FRIDAY RESULTS

LUBBOCK, TEXAS – The ULM indoor track and field team capped off the opening day of the Texas Tech Classic with eight Top-15 finishes on Friday, Jan. 25, including a fourth-place performance from freshman Jakob Fudge in the weight throw.
 
Fudge, one of three Warhawks taking part in the weight throw, enjoyed the best finish by any ULM participant with a toss of 15.48 meters. He edged out a 15.37-meter heave by senior Micah Dye, who placed fifth, while freshman Ray Dixon took eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.61 meters.
 
Freshman Jadyn Walden brought home top honors for the Warhawk women, placing eighth in the weight throw with a heave of 14.05 meters.
 
Junior Levaughn Battick streaked down the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.16, placing sixth along the way, while senior Kourtni Russell recorded a time of 8.78 to finish 15th. Russell finished ahead of the duo of freshmen Jasmine Williams (8.95) and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo (8.95), who placed 21st and 22nd, respectively.
 
Freshman Cole Burgess put together the first Top-10 outing of his career as he claimed eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.48 meters.
 
Junior Micaiah Dendy rounded out the Top-15 outings in the triple jump as she extended herself to 12.13 meters to finish 13th.
 
Four Warhawks took part in the men's 60-meter dash with top billing belonging to freshman Jhavonte Perry (7.04), who finished 33th. Russell highlighted the women's 60-meter dash with a 37th-place time of 8.28.
 
Freshman Bryce Moore was the best of three ULM participants in the 400-meter dash, ending the event 32nd in a time of 49.35. Freshman Fiebe Tengrootenhuyse was responsible for the best time in the women's 400-meter dash at 59.81, resulting in a 34th-place finish.
 
The Texas Tech Classic continues on Saturday, Jan. 26, beginning at 10 a.m.
