Warhawks Host Georgia Southern on Thursday

Women's Basketball
MONROE, La. – After dropping five of its last six games, the ULM women's basketball team is back at home in Fant-Ewing Coliseum, looking to bounce back when they host Sun Belt opponent Georgia Southern. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

ULM played a tight game on Saturday at Arkansas State, trailing by just one at 49-48 with 7:21 to play, before the Red Wolves mounted a 9-0 run to open a 10-point lead and held on for a 64-54 win. The game featured five ties and 13 lead changes. ULM last led at 41-40 with 4:32 left in the third quarter following Lauren Fitch's second 3-pointer in as many possessions.

Fitch continued her recent hot streak, posting a double-figure scoring game for the sixth time in the last seven games. Fitch finished with 14 points and scored in spurts for ULM. She scored six straight points in the first quarter to give ULM a 10-9 lead at the first media timeout, and buried a pair of 3-pointers on consecutive possessions in the third quarter to give ULM its last lead of the game.

Georgia Southern opened Sun Belt Conference play at 0-2 after dropping Thursday's game to Texas State, 64-52, and Saturday's game to UTA, 74-53. The Eagles have lost three straight games after a stretch where they won three straight games and four out of five.

Junior guard Alexis Brown is one of the most dynamic scorers in the Sun Belt Conference. Brown leads the Eagles and ranks third in the SBC at 16.7 points per game. She is shooting 39.3 percent from the field (70-of-178), but also finds a way to get to the free throw line, where she is shooting 79.7 percent (59-of-74). She has scored in double figures in 12 of 13 games, while topping 20 points five times. Brown also leads the team in steals with 31 (2.4 per game), which ranks third per game in the SBC.

Thursday's game is the eighth all-time meeting between the Warhawks and Eagles. The two teams did not meet until Georgia Southern joined the Sun Belt Conference in the 2015-16 season. ULM won the first four meetings, but Georgia Southern has won the last three, including last season's lone meeting 75-45 in Statesboro.
