MONROE, La. – The ULM Warhawks will wrap up their season this weekend with a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday against Georgia State before rounding out the schedule with a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday against Coastal Carolina. Both games will be at Brown Stadium.
"Both of these teams are still fighting to get into the conference tournament, so they're going to throw everything at us," head coach Keyton Wheelock said.
These will mark the final games for seniors Alexiss Trudeau, Payton Vega, Erika Wiest and Amanda Castillo. All four girls were apart of head coach Keyton Wheelock's first season at ULM.
"These girls actually signed with us the day I took the job," Wheelock said. "They stuck with the program and have done everything I asked them to do."
First up for the Warhawks (3-11-2, 0-8 Sun Belt) will be Georgia State. The Panthers (6-8-2, 3-4-1 Sun Belt) are coming off of back-to-back wins against the Ragin' Cajuns and Texas State. However, Georgia State hasn't been particularly good on the road, only winning one game.
"We've got to be extremely prepared because it will be a physical game," Wheelock said. "If we can play to our potential, we'll be ok."
The Panthers' leading scorer is Jimena Cabrero, who has 17 shots on goal with four of those finding the back of the net for an on goal percentage of .630. Cabrero also has four game winners. Cabrero will be joined by Jolie Ryff, who has two goals and three assists.
After taking on Georgia State, the Warhawks will round out the season against Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers (5-8-2. 3-4-1 Sun Belt) are coming off of back-to-back losses against South Alabama and Texas State.
"Coastal has always been very technical," Wheelock said. "They like to pass the ball and have some very big threats moving forward."
Coastal Carolina's top two scorers are Sun Sigurvinsdottir and Hannah Miller. Sigurvinsdottir leads the team with six goals and two game winners while Miller has recorded five goals, one assist and one game winner.
