ULM Falls to Coastal Carolina on Senior Day

MONROE, La. - The ULM Warhawks wrapped up their season on Sunday against Coastal Carolina and fell to the Chanticleers, 1-0.

"We battled today and it was a very physical game," head coach Keyton Wheelock said. "We just couldn't seal the deal."

Camryn Ciaramella, Taylor Altieri and Amanda Castillo started the Warhawks (3-13-2, 0-10 Sun Belt) strong with three shots in two minutes to open the game, but all three of their shots went wide left.

Coastal Carolina (7-8-2, 5-4-1 Sun Belt) answered back with a couple of shots before Rahel Zerazion raced down the field at the 31 minute mark for a shot that went wide left as well. Cassidy Wiest had a shot saved shortly after and both teams went into halftime scoreless.

"I wasn't disappointed with our effort today," Wheelock said.

Melissa Taft and Altieri both took shots to start the second half, but neither could find the back of the net. The Chanticleers bounced back, but Rian Kasner was there every time with 13 saves on the day.

However, at the 75 minute mark, Hannah Miller received the throw in and scored to give Coastal Carolina a 1-0 lead.

Alexiss Trudeau had an opportunity with four minutes left, but her shot was saved and the Chanticleers held on for a 1-0 win.

"We're sad to see our four seniors leave, but we had 11 new players on the roster this year," Wheelock said. "The future of this program is very bright."
