Warhawks Set for Battle with Jackson State

MONROE, La. – The ULM volleyball team will continue their home stand and face off with non-conference opponent Jackson State at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

"This is another team that we cannot overlook," head coach Charlie Olson said. "They're a division one program that competes at a very high level."

ULM (10-15, 1-9 Sun Belt) will look to bounce back after tough losses against Arkansas State and Little Rock.

Jackson State (15-15, 11-3 SWAC) has won five of their last six games, with their only loss coming on Sunday against Southern by way of a sweep.

"They're super athletic and well-coached," Olson said. "They'll come in here hungry for a win on the road."

The Lady Tigers will be led by Jylen Whitten and Alana Washington. Whitten leads the team in kills with 353 for an average of 3.30 kills per set. She also leads the team with 28 service aces. Washington leads the team with 454 digs for an average of 4.37 digs per set. She also has 23 service aces.

Other key players include setters Demassey Thompson and DeKyra Dennis. Thompson is averaging 4.48 assists per set and Dennis is averaging 3.93 assists per set. They will be joined by Marina Bianchi Brito, who leads the team with 70 blocks.
