MONROE, La. - The ULM Warhawks have returned home after a two-game road stretch and are set for a 7 p.m. showdown on Friday against Texas State at Brown Stadium.
"This is where we have to overcome adversity and rise above," head coach Keyton Wheelock said. "It's fight or flight right now and we have to show our true character."
The Warhawks (3-6-2, 0-3 Sun Belt) stepped up their offensive game this season and have taken 46 shots on goal for a .479 on goal average.
The offensive attack has been led by Taylor Altieri and Melissa Taft. Altieri has taken 15 shots with seven being on goal and found the back of the net three times. Taft also has three goals with one of those goals being a game-winner.
Camryn Ciaramella has also been a key player for the ULM offense with 12 shots. 10 of those shots have been on frame and she has scored two goals. McKenzie Rizqi has been an excellent passer with two assists.
Texas State (4-5-2, 0-2-1 Sun Belt) is coming off of a 1-0 loss to Arkansas State.
The Bobcats have had a stingy defense this season, only allowing eight goals from opposing teams. Texas State has outshot their opponents 136 to 119 with a .346 shot on goal average.
"We have to stay patient," Wheelock said. "Their defense is organized and hard-working. They won't give us a lot of chances."
Kaylee Davis leads the Bobcat offense with three goals and one assist. Davis has taken 36 shots with 12 being on goal. She also has two game-winning goals.
"Davis is a very good striker," Wheelock said. "She's technically quick and physically strong. We have to make sure she doesn't get the shot she wants."
