MONROE, La. – The ULM volleyball team will take to the road for the final matches of the season as they take on Little Rock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday before rounding out the season against Arkansas State at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
"We're focused," head coach Charlie Olson said. "We are all in to finish the season and that's exciting. We don't have the opportunity to make postseason this year and we're not going to put up the white flag. We're going to keep the fun in it and put all of our potential into the games."
The Warhawks (11-19, 1-13 Sun Belt) will start the weekend against the Trojans of Little Rock. The Trojans (6-20, 4-10 Sun Belt) are on a three-game losing streak with losses against Arkansas State, Texas State and UT-Arlington. Little Rock swept ULM at the end of October.
The Trojans will be led by Carol Barbosa, who leads the team with 3.59 kills per set. Barbosa will be joined by setters Nathalia Vigineski and Alyssa Nayar. Vigineski is averaging 4.46 assists per set and Nayar is averaging 4.20 assists per set.
Other key players include Diana Giordani, who has 4.33 digs per set, Madison Nichols, who has 68 blocks on the season, and Laura Jansen, who has 17 service aces.
After taking on Little Rock, ULM will travel up to Jonesboro for a battle with Arkansas State. The Red Wolves (15-11, 6-8 Sun Belt) are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Texas State and defeated the Warhawks last month, 3-2.
Macey Putt leads Arkansas State with 2.94 kills per set and Kendahl Davenport leads the team with 76 blocks.
Julianna Cramer leads the team with 5.38 assists per set while Malgorzata Andersohn and Hannah Cox both have 25 service aces. Cox also leads the team with 3.74 digs per set.
"This whole season has been about learning and growing and we've embraced that, including myself," Olson said. "I think we've positioned ourselves into a competitive environment, we're better than when we started and we're putting out a great product on the floor."
