Warhawks Continue Longest Home Stand of Season Against Bobcats

Women's Basketball

Monroe, La. – The ULM women's basketball team continues its longest home stand of the season Thursday night when they host the Texas State Bobcats at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.

ULM Game Notes

Thursday's game is the 54th overall meeting between the Warhawks and Bobcats. The two teams first met at least twice every season from 1987-88 to 2005-06 in the Southland Conference. After two non-conference meetings in 2007 and 2009, the two have met annually in the Sun Belt Conference since the 2013-14 season.

The Warhawks lost an eight-point second half lead in Saturday's loss to the Ragin' Cajuns, 55-52. ULM trailed by as much as 13, at 20-7, in the second quarter, before closing the half on a 19-6 run, including the last nine points of the half, to tie the game at 26 at the break. The Warhawks carried the momentum into the second half to build an eight-point lead at 42-34 with 50 seconds left in the third quarter. However, the Cajuns rallied, eventually taking the lead with 5:45 to play and never trailed again.

Junior guard Lauren Fitch led the Warhawks in scoring for the second straight game. Fitch tallied 18 points to pace ULM, following up a 15 point performance at Georgia Southern. Fitch has now tallied double figure scoring in 11 games this season, good for second-best on the team behind sophomore guard Arsula Clark. Fitch has three double figure games in her last four outings.

Clark cracked double figures for the ninth straight game on Saturday, and also tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Cajuns. Clark now has six career double-doubles and has topped 10 rebounds nine different times. She ranks eighth in the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding at 7.3 rebounds per game. Clark also picked up two assists, two blocks and two steals against the Cajuns.

For the first time in her career, sophomore guard/forward Whitney Goins has scored in double figures in back-to-back games. Goins scored a career-high 14 points at Georgia Southern before picking up 10 points on Saturday against the Cajuns. Goins also pulled in six rebounds and blocked a shot in Saturday's game.

Sophomore center Diamond Brooks tracked down seven rebounds on Saturday. Brooks is now averaging 3.7 rebounds per game, but the average increases to 4.6 boards per game in SBC play.

The Bobcats sit at 11-14 overall and 6-7 in the Sun Belt Conference after knocking off first-place Little Rock on Saturday 50-48, handing the Trojans just their second Sun Belt Conference loss this season.

Senior guard Toshua Leavitt leads Texas State in scoring at 16.2 points per game. Leavitt is the all-time leader in Texas State history with 337 3-point field goals. Leavitt has canned 83 treys this season. Leavitt ranks third in the SBC in points per game and leads the conference in 3-pointers made.

Junior guard Brooke Holle ranks second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game. Holle has posted two double-doubles on the season, and is tied for the team lead at 6.4 rebounds per game with senior forward Zandra Emanuel.

The Bobcats snapped a five-game losing streak with a 68-54 win over Arkansas State last Thursday. Texas State opened SBC play 3-0 before losing seven of the next eight games.
