MONROE, La. – Linda van Schaik, a 5-foot-10 guard from South Holland, Netherlands, and regular member of the Netherlands National Team, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend ULM and play basketball in 2019-20, according to an announcement made Sunday, May 19 by first-year Warhawk head coach Brooks Donald Williams.

She averaged 10.0 points per game for CTO Amsterdam, coached by Molly McDowell, during the 2018-19 season.

"We're thrilled to add Linda to our Warhawk family," Williams said. "She's an incredible young lady and a special talent. Linda fills a big scoring need for us, and we're looking forward to seeing her play in a ULM jersey. Her experience of winning championships and competing at the highest levels for her country will impact our culture and program immediately."

"I'm super excited and grateful to start the new season at ULM," van Schaik said. "I can't wait to become a part of the Warhawk family."

Schaik, who has a wealth of international experience, is attempting to represent the Netherlands National Team in her fourth-straight FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Women's European Championship. She is competing for one of 12 roster spots on the 2019 Netherlands National Team, coached by Hakim Salem, that will compete in the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship Division B, scheduled for Aug. 3-11 in Klatovy, Czech Republic.

In 2018, Schaik averaged 6.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in eight games in the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B in Austria. She scored double figures in three games, including 11 points against Austria, 12 against Great Britain and 12 points to go along with five assists against Belarus in the quarterfinals.

Schaik averaged 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in the 2017 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B in Dublin, Ireland. She contributed 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Group Phase opener against Georgia.

She made her international debut in the 2016 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B in Oradea, Romania. Schaik averaged 6.5 points and 4.9 rebounds while helping the Netherlands capture the bronze medal. She netted double figures against Cyprus (10 points) and Slovenia (11) in the Group Phase and collected eight rebounds in the Third-Place Game against Israel.

Schaik becomes the second signee of Coach Williams' first recruiting class at ULM, joining 5-8 guard Gara Beth Self, from Ingomar High School in New Albany, Mississippi.
