JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
– ULM senior LeBrun Nelson, who competed in his third NCAA East Preliminary in the last four years, enjoyed his best career finish in the postseason, placing 22nd in the triple jump on Saturday, May 25 with a mark of 50-5 1/2 (15.38 meters).
 
Nelson previously finished 30th in the 2016 Preliminary with a distance of 49-11 1/4 (15.22m) Jacksonville, Florida, and improved by five spots to 25th with a mark of 50-2 1/2 (15.30m) in the 2017 Preliminary in Lexington, Kentucky.
 
His season ended with eight Top-5 finishes in the triple jump and nine Top-20 efforts, which also included a 17th-place performance in the long jump at the Southern Miss Open. Nelson's leap of 15.38 meters in the NCAA prelims was his fourth-longest of the outdoor season, behind 15.55m (LSU Alumni Gold), 15.46m (Southern Miss Open) and 15.42m (Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays).
 
Nelson, who was the fifth and final Warhawk to participate in the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary, was preceded at the event by teammates Eran Siboni in the 400 meters, Sam Healy and Colm Bourke in the long jump, and Cole McKnight in the javelin.
 
On Friday (May 24), McKnight made his second consecutive appearance in the NCAA East Preliminary in the javelin. He recorded a toss of 211-0 (64.32m) on his first attempt – his third-best distance of the season – and placed 19th overall. It marked his sixth Top-20 performance of the season.
 
Healy, who made his first NCAA postseason appearance on Thursday (May 23), placed 26th in the prelims after posting a distance of 23-9 (7.24 meters) on his third and final attempt. His season draws to a close with six Top-10 finishes during the 2019 outdoor schedule, including a season-best second-place performance at the Louisiana Classics, where he reached 24-1 1/2 (7.35m). His best jump of the season came at the 2019 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships, where he traveled 25-0 (7.62m), to claim third in the event.
 
Bourke, who also competed in the long jump Thursday, committed fouls on all three attempts. Entering his final season with the Warhawks, Bourke's personal-best performance in the long jump was 23-2 3/4 (7.08m), which came at the 2018 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships.
 
Siboni finished 45th in the 400-meter dash Thursday with a time of 48.18. His season ends with four Top-10 finishes, including a first-place performance at the April 26 Southern Miss Open, which resulted in his best time (46.80). On three occasions, he posted times of sub-48, including the 2019 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships where he took third with a 47.47.
