ULM to Take on Grambling Monday in I-20 Showdown

Volleyball

MONROE, La.- After a successful weekend in New Orleans, head coach Charlie Olson and his squad will look to improve on their 2-1 record against Grambling State on Monday. Match time is 6 p.m.

Grambling (0-2) is coming off of a tough start to the season after losing both games at the Florida Atlantic Invitational. Their third game of the weekend was cancelled.

"Grambling faced tough competition on the road and it's even more tough competing in another time zone," Olson said. "Teams are still trying to find their identity and there is always a threat in our sport."

The Tigers were led this weekend by Chasity Nicks and Lundy Woods. Nicks recorded 10 kills, three digs, one block and one assist. Woods ended the weekend with eight kills and two blocks. Sheila Borders and Kalee Cadwell finished the tournament with a combined 37 assists.

"Even though they're just up I-20, it's going to be far from a 'home' match," Olson said. "Whenever we play a team on the road, I tell my team we're already down 3-5 points before the game even starts, so we need everybody to be involved."

"It's going to be a fun match. The team is really looking forward to it," Olson said.
