TROY, Ala.-The ULM Warhawks finished up their Alabama road trip in a loss to Troy, 7-1.
"We need to regroup, refocus and go back to the drawing board on set pieces," head coach Keyton Wheelock said.
ULM (3-6-2, 0-3 Sun Belt) jumped out of the gate with two corner kicks and shots by Rahel Zarazion, Camryn Ciaramella, Cassidy Wiest and Valerie Fleijsman. None of the shots could find the back of the net. At the eight minute mark, Melissa Kuya-Strobel raced down the field to score the Troy's (7-2-3, 2-1-1 Sun Belt) first goal.
Liv Schellekens created an opportunity 18 minutes into the game, but her shot was saved. The Trojans scored two more times to take a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Khyjian Thomas took control in the second half and scored for the Warhawks nine minutes into the half off of a Zarazion assist. Taytum Terrell answered for Troy with back-to-back goals to give the Trojans a 5-1 lead.
ULM would have other opportunities, but couldn't capitalize as Troy scored two more goals to win the game, 7-1.
The Warhawks will return home at 7 p.m. on Friday for a showdown with Texas State.
